Smooth Day-Sailling on the Bras d’Or Lakes
Slightly grey summer weather has not dampened the enthusiasm of visitors to Cape Breton looking for on-the-water adventures. Cape Breton Sailing Charters, based in St. Peter’s, has been providing a unique sailing experience for groups of up to 6 people aboard the Nonsuch-class yacht Misty Cat. Guests from across Canada and the US have kept Captain Greg busy in all kinds of weather to day-sail the St. Peter’s Inlet and Bras d’Or Lake. During the day-long private charters, guests have the opportunity to brush up on their skills at the helm and sheets, and novices have a chance to learn the ropes and take command of the vessel. Most trips include a mid-day anchorage in one of the quiet coves along the Inlet for lunch and a swim, and lots of close-up sightseeing and photo-ops. This year we have seen a large number of eagles, the heron population appears to be very healthy, and the mackerel are biting. These day-sailing charters are available through mid-September, more information is available at http://www.capebretonsailing.com.
